Blocked Senders.

Mail Shepherd 3.0 for the Mac App Store (build 535) · Updated October 24, 2026

Blocked Senders lists every blocked address in one list: Mail Shepherd’s own Blocked Senders, which Block Sender on a message’s details adds to, and the senders from Mail’s Blocked Sender List, once you’ve linked it in Settings. A Sweep and the Review pages treat both alike.

  • The columns are Sender and Source: Mail Shepherd, Mail’s Blocked Sender List, or both. Mail Shepherd’s entries come first, newest first, then the rest, A to Z.
  • The menu shows All Sources or one source, each with its count. The search box filters by address or name; its × clears it. The footer counts the senders shown.
  • Click a row to see the sender’s details. ↑ and ↓ move through the list; Done (Esc) goes back to it.

A sender’s details

Blocked Sender shows the address, with a button to copy it, and where it’s blocked:

  • Mail Shepherd: Blocked or Not blocked, with Turn On Blocking or Turn Off Blocking.
  • Mail’s List, when the sender is on Mail’s Blocked Sender List. That list can only be changed in Mail: Open Mail… opens Mail, where Settings → Junk Mail → Blocked lets you unblock the sender.

Blocked Domains in Mail Shepherd shows the sender’s parent domain (such as shop.example) and exact domain (such as news.shop.example), each with Turn On Blocking or Turn Off Blocking. They’re on Blocked Domains, where a domain also covers its subdomains. Shared email providers, mailing services and hosting services can’t be blocked as a domain: click ⓘ to see why, and block the sender instead.

Changes take effect at once and are recorded in the Action Log; the Review lists are matched again, and the next Sweep handles the sender’s mail.

Mail Shepherd reads Mail’s Blocked Sender List again before each Sweep, so a sender you block or unblock in Mail shows here after the next Sweep. Mail’s list syncs to your other devices; Mail Shepherd’s own list is kept on this Mac.
